Written for St Mary's Church Hitchin this emphatic piece would be effective either at the beginning or the end of a recital. While contemporary in style, it is not too harsh, or too difficult.

As with the Paean for St Mary's, these works are contemporary (but tonal) in idiom. The writing for organ is extremely effective and highly rhythmic in the French style. The music also is not as difficult to play as it sounds (provided the instrument has a responsive action!).
