This is an affectionate and moving tribute to Dr John Ellis, who died in April 2010, from a friend and fellow member of the Preston & District Organists’ Association. Dr Ellis was president of that association in 2009 and was also serving, until his final illness, as organist at the not inconsiderable post of Bury Parish Church. (Fagus is pleased to retain many of his works in our catalogue). The music is naturally elegiac in mood and also incorporates the tune ‘Regnator Orbis’ (‘O what their joy and their glory must be’).
