2017 Wilmslow Parish Church Organ Composition Contest

To celebrate the renewal and enlargement of the organ in the above church (affectionately known as ‘Oscar’), the church’s director of music, Philip Underwood has promoted this composition competition, and we are privileged to publish a volume containing the entries of the three prize winners which were selected from a total of 70 entries from all over the world.

These are:
1 Gregory Mayer Oscar’s Invention
2 d. donald cervone Entrata Festiva and Sortita Giojoso (2 pieces)
3 Martin Setchell Oscar’s March

These pieces are ideally suited for general use and for a celebratory moment in a recital; they conform to the competition’s requirements of being approximately grade 7 in difficulty and 5-7 minutes in length.
