Frederick Cook Atkinson

List of Compositions

Organ Music for Church Services

Paul Edwards unearthed this charming Victorian voluntary in the British Library. (So far as is known, the composer is not an ancestor of your publisher). F C Atkinson graduated Mus B from Cambridge in 1867 and, amongst other posts, he was organist at Norwich Cathedral from 1881-1885. This piece was published posthumously in 1897. The music is graceful and fluent and will serve admirably as an opening voluntary, or a quiet postlude at Evensong.
