Guiseppe Tartini (1692-1770)
List of Compositions
Andante in G (B) (arr J Stuart Archer) |
£4.00 |
The provenance of this piece is
complex, not to say both odd and very untidy. It is a fairly elaborate reworking
of a slow movement from one of the 400 or so trio sonatas that Tartini wrote.
Versions of the original seem to be quite well known, since there are several
differing performances of it on ‘You Tube’. The full preface gives as many
details as we have managed to unearth. This arrangement is in no way
‘authentic’, being a much romantised version of the original. It is however an
extremely beautiful piece of music, and it would make a worthy voluntary for a
special occasion.
