This attractive work won first prize in the 1999 Dr William Baird Ross Competition which seeks to promote the work of Scottish church musicians. On this occasion the entry requirement was for three or four pieces for beginners at the organ, with at least one for manuals only; the pieces were to be appealing and suitable for use during a church service.
